Obesity topic for CMH health program March 1

Citizens Memorial Hospital is hosting its next CMH Breakfast Club on Wednesday, March 1, 7-8 a.m., in CMH Community Room 1. The event will feature Heather Corn, M.D., M.S., board-certified and fellowship-trained endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism specialist in practice at CMH Endocrinology Center in Bolivar.

Dr. Corn will present "Obesity: What you need to know about this chronic health condition, its causes and treatment options."

Obesity affects 100.1 million (41.9%) adults and 14.7 million (19.7%) children in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and by 2030, nearly one in two adults will be obese.

“There are many reasons why people have difficulty maintaining a healthy weight,” says Dr. Corn. “In this presentation, we’ll sort through myths and facts and help people understand the biological implications of obesity and talk about the latest treatments.”

The public is invited to attend this program. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required. CMH Breakfast Club programs include a light breakfast and a presentation from an expert about a health and wellness topic. To register for the March 1 presentation, call CMH Marketing Department at 417-328-7245.
