CMH Emergency Medical Services offers local training classes. They are for various levels of certification to provide emergency medical response.

NOW ENROLLING: Spring 2026 EMT Academy
- Dates: Jan. 5-May 9, 2026
- Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-10 p.m.

This class equips you with the education needed to become an entry-level Emergency Medical Technician. Entrance exam testing and interview may be conducted before acceptance into the academy. Class size is limited to 16 students.
Certifications gained after successful completion
- Missouri Emergency Medical Technician license (eligible)
- National Emergency Medical Technician registration (eligible)
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support
Tuition reimbursement may be available for those who complete training, testing and licensing.
CMH EMS Education is a Missouri-accredited EMS training entity that provides access to training equipment and high-fidelity manikins. Coursework, classroom activities and in-class testing will focus on personal safety, teamwork and CMH Values. Use of simulation and scenario education will be included.
Prerequisites
- Ability to pass a background check without felony, violence, or drug convictions.
- Ability to pass a drug screen.
- Must be at least 18 years old before the scheduled clinical time.
- Must verify completed vaccinations (TB test, TDAP, MMR, Hep B, Influenza*, COVID*).
- Ability to meet functional requirements of EMT job responsibilities.
- Ability to obtain Missouri Class E Driver License.
- Have access to a personal computer with reliable internet access.
*Declination forms available through CMH HR.
Tuition
Tuition of $750 includes textbooks, online access codes and two shirts. The student is responsible for providing navy EMS work pants, black boots, shoes and a black belt.
A non-refundable application fee of $20 will be required at the time of application and will be used to run a background check. All fees and tuition can be paid by check, credit card or CMH employee payroll deduction. Payment schedule is $250 due the first night of class, $250 at mid-term and $250 before final testing.
Application Process
- Complete the online application.
- Download and complete the background check form.
- Send an email to brice.flynn@citizensmemorial.com letting him know of your interest in the program.
- Submit your completed background check form and the $20 background check fee to EMS Headquarters, 1525 N. Oakland Ave., Bolivar, MO 65613. You may pay the fee by credit card by contacting customer service at 417-328-6508 or 800-326-0508.
All application materials are due by Dec. 12, 2025.
Emergency Medical Responder Academy
Emergency Medical Responders offer immediate care to critical patients. Local fire/rescue agencies teach the 60-hour course.

Credentials
After course completion, you are eligible to test for:
- Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Responder Certification
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Academy
Emergency Medical Technicians offer essential care and transport for critical patients. After finishing the course, you can take the national EMT exam.
Class Schedule
- Starts in January or September for 16 weeks in the evenings and on weekends
Credentials
After course completion, you are eligible to test for:
- National EMT Certification
- Missouri EMT Licensure
SUMMER EMT INTERNSHIP ACADEMY
You can work as a full-time EMT intern at CMH and earn an hourly stipend while training. We will reimburse your registration fee with a work agreement to work for CMH for one year.
